One of the most vital things you can do to improve your lawn is to grow the right grass type for your location and conditions.
There are two main types of grass: cool season and warm season. As their name implies, cool season prefers the cooler climates of the north and warm season prefers the warmer climates of the southern USA. Sandwiched in the middle is the transitional zone, where both types of grass can grow and selections have to be made carefully.
Consider your shade level and regional heat conditions. Do you have special soil conditions for example a high saline soil? Some lawns have high shade areas and full sun areas, so for these conditions it might be ideal to grow two different grass types.
