Dandelion Doom Lawn Weed Killer is a selective, broadleaf weedkiller that uses a specially formulated iron chelate solution. It works quickly, delivering visible same-day results, even in cool weather. People and pets can enter the treated area once the spray has dried.
How it works
Iron is bound to a chelating agent, hydroxyethylene-diaminetriacetic acid(HEDTA), which keeps the iron soluble and readily available for plant uptake. Broad leaf weeds absorb Dandelion Doom easily and in larger quantities than grass does, which leads to cellular damage and ultimate plant death in broadleaf weeds while grass remains unharmed.
Dandelion Doom is effective on dandelion, false dandelion, English daisy, white clover, black medic, bull thistle, Canada thistle, common chickweed, creeping buttercup, slender speedwell, narrow-leaved plantain, dove’s foot geranium, wild geranium, lawn burweed, moss and algae. Dandelion Doom is also suitable for the suppression of broad-leaved plantain.
Dandelion Doom is made from iron, it has no unpleasant odor during or after application, and pets and people can reenter the treated area once the spray is dry. This product is ideal for lawn care where pesticide bans exist and has been approved by the EPA’s Biopesticide Division.
Suitable for broadcast application or spot treatment, Dandelion Doom is a versatile product that will help turf look its best, even in pesticide restricted areas such as parks,
Iron HEDTA is “an effective alternative to2,4-D to control broadleaf weeds on home lawns, school grounds, and certain areas in golf courses.” PESPWire, Nov/Dec 2010“Oxalis and dandelion [showed] injury within one day and were controlled in about three days. There was no turf injury.” IPMNews, March 2012

Long-time human usage without health or safety concern - FeHEDTA has been used for decades in fertilizers, cosmetics, and as a food supplement.•
Non-toxic mode of action - Weeds and grasses take up iron, an essential plant nutrient, in different ways. The chelator in FeHEDTA makes it easier for weeds to absorb the iron, to the point where excess iron is absorbed, leading to plant death. Grasses can absorb greater amounts of iron without suffering ill effects.•
Low toxicity to other organisms in the environment - All studies with FeHEDTA classify it in the least toxic category to people, animals, and the environment. FeHEDTA is less toxic than vinegar or table salt.•
Does not accumulate in the environment - FeHEDTA is quickly absorbed and metabolized by plants, and is readily degraded by sunlight and natural microbes that live in the soil.•
Limited exposure to the end user - People and pets can enter the treated area once the spray has dried.
